When A Child Is Born

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

This is my favorite time of year! I love everything about Christmas. But one thing that bother's me is the real reason of Christmas gets overlooked. So I thought this video is appropriate. I hope you watch the whole thing.

When a child is born

A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a brand new morn'
This comes to pass when a child is born.

A silent wish sails the seven seas
The winds of change whisper in the trees
And the walls of doubt crumble, tossed and torn
This comes to pass when a child is born.

A rosy hue settles all around
You got the feel, you're on solid ground
For a spell or two no-one seems forlorn
This comes to pass when a child is born.

And all of this happens because the world is waiting
Waiting for one child, black, white, yellow - no one knows
But a child that will grow up and turn tears to laughter
Hate to love, war to peace and everyone to everyone's neighbour
And misery and suffering will be words to be forgotten, forever.

It's all a dream, an illusion now
It must come true sometime soon somehow
All across the land dawns a brand new morn'
This comes to pass when a child is born.

This comes to pass when a child is born.
Is born.
Is born...

I love Christ! I love the fact that my Father thought that I was worthy enough that he sent his only son to save me. Can you imagine? Who would give up their child to save a sinner? He is worthy of our praise. He is worthy of our Love. He is worthy!!! For those that know me personally you know the difficulties I have faced in my life. For all of my wonderful bloggy friends I have shared with you some of them. If you are here for the first time I want to tell you that I have been blessed way beyond what I deserve. My Father has spared my life so many times and blessed me so many times that I just can't see why He thinks that I am so deserving of His blessings, love and mercy. Or why I was ever worthy enough for Him to give his only son to save me.

My God is a wonderful God!! If you don't know Him why not say the following prayer and make Him your Savior. I promise you it will be the best decision you have ever made!!!

Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned against you and that my sins separate me from you. I am truly sorry. I now want to turn away from my sinful past and turn to you for forgiveness. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, that He was raised from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become my Savior and the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You and to convict me when I sin. I pledge to grow in grace and knowledge of you. My greatest purpose in life is to follow your example and do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

God Bless You!!!

The Story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Hello Everyone,

I had never heard the story of where Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer came from.

The story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Did you know the origin of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? I had never heard this story. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!!!

A guy named Robert May, depressed and brokenhearted, stared out his drafty apartment window into the chilling December night. His 4-year-old daughter, Barbara, sat on his lap quietly sobbing. Bobs wife, Evelyn, was dying of cancer. Little Barbara couldn't understand why her mommy could never come home. Barbara looked up into her dads eyes and asked, "Why isn't Mommy just like everybody else's Mommy?" Bob's jaw tightened and his eyes welled with tears. Her question brought waves of grief, but also of anger. It had been the story of Bob's life. Life always had to be different for Bob. Being small when he was a kid, Bob was often bullied by other boys. He was too little at the time to compete in sports. He was often called names he'd rather not remember.

From childhood, Bob was different and never seemed to fit in. Bob did complete college, married his loving wife and was grateful to get his job as a copywriter at Montgomery Ward during the Great Depression. Then he was blessed with his little girl. But it was all short-lived. Evelyn's bout with cancer stripped them of all their savings and now Bob and his daughter were forced to live in a two-room apartment in the Chicago slums. Evelyn died just days before Christmas in 1938. Bob struggled to give hope to his child, for whom he couldn't even afford to buy a Christmas gift. But if he couldn't buy a gift, he was determined a make one - a storybook!

Bob had created an animal character in his own mind and told the animal's story to little Barbara to give her comfort and hope. Again and again Bob told the story, embellishing it more with each telling. Who was the character? What was the story all about? The story Bob May created was his own autobiography in fable form. The character he created was a misfit outcast like he was. The name of the character? A little reindeer named Rudolph, with a big shiny nose.

Bob finished the book just in time to give it to his little girl on Christmas Day. But the story doesn't end there. The general manager of Montgomery Ward caught wind of the little storybook and offered Bob May a nominal fee to purchase the rights to print the book. Wards went on to print Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and distribute it to children visiting Santa Claus in their stores. By 1946 Wards had printed and distributed more than six million copies of Rudolph. That same year, a major publisher wanted to purchase the rights from Wards to print an updated version of the book. In an unprecedented gesture of kindness, the CEO of Wards returned all rights back to Bob May. The book became a best seller. Many toy and marketing deals followed and Bob May, now remarried with a growing family, became wealthy from the story he created to comfort his grieving daughter.

But the story doesn't end there either. Bob's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, made a song adaptation to Rudolph. Though the song was turned down by such popular vocalists as Bing Crosby and Dinah Shore , it was recorded by the singing cowboy, Gene Autry. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was released in 1949 and became a phenomenal success, selling more records than any other Christmas song, with the exception of "White Christmas." The gift of love that Bob May created for his daughter so long ago kept on returning to bless him again and again. And Bob May learned the lesson, just like his dear friend Rudolph, that being different isn't so bad. In fact, being different can be a blessing!

The above tale is true - for the most part. The real story is here on snopes.com. As you will read he didn't come up with the story for his daughter but his boss asked him too. While he was in debt after his wife's passing, there is no proof that he lived in the slums of Chicago or didn't have any Christmas presents for his daughter. I thought it was a neat tale though and something that I didn't know. I hope you enjoy it as the story above is good and the real story is too!

Hello Everyone,

Well if you remember I hosted a Secret Christmas Ornament Swap. There was a great turn out and I got to meet a lot of new bloggers and some old bloggy friends joined in on the fun too. So now let me show you what I got!!!

I received my ornaments last week from Annikke (I LOVE her name) at Mom is in the Fishbowl. I just want to say that I LOVE my ornaments. Wanna see what all she got me? Okay here we go....

Here they are all together

I love snowflakes and actually have some that are just like these but they are white instead of silver. I can't wait to see them on the tree together.

I love these next two too. The one on the left is a little doggie in a mitten. How cute is that? I also love the red and gold of this ornament I know exactly where I am going to put it on my tree (when I get it up that is!)

Now this one if you can't read it saids Hope!! Love it! I am not going to put this on my tree though. I have a perfect spot to put it in my living room. It will be in the middle of where I arrange my Christmas cards wreath. I think it is going to look great. I'll be sure to post a picture when I am done with it so you all can see it.

Last but not least is this cute Noel! I love it too! lol I love that is different colors and a little whimsical. You can also see the cute card that Annikke included.

Annikke thanks so much I liked each and every ornament that you sent!!

If you want to see what all of the other participates received for their ornaments then go here or click on the picture at the top of this post.
